General
Statement: Fred's Fishing Adventures was established in
1982 by Fred Helmer and has grown from a one person operator
base to a large guiding company that has 22 part and full-time
guides. Although Fred is still very involved in the company
today Fred's Fishing Adventures is owned and operated as a
division of BC Sportfishing Group Ltd .Our staff and support
is based at two locations of operation where trips are promoted
and booked. The main office location is next to Fred's Custom
Tackle, a 2500 square foot retail fishing tackle store that
attracts thousands of anglers to some of the favorite rivers
and lakes in the area. Our second location is within the Harrison
Hot Springs Resort and Spa next to guest relations located
on the shore of Harrison Lake where it meets the Harrison
River, this is a world-class holiday destination established
over 100years ago. You can view the Harrison Hot Springs Resort
website at www.harrisonresort.com
The
Chilliwack, Harrison Hot Springs and the Fraser Valley as
a whole are attractive due to the beauty, climate, and great
people. Opportunity abounds with the many rivers and lakes
that are nestled amongst the towering snow capped mountains
for the outdoorsman or recreational angler. The Fraser Valley
has become a very popular destination for people that travel
the world in pursuit of sportfishing holidays. We are conveniently
located near several rivers that are very productive due to
the tremendous returns of wild salmon each year. Chinook,
Coho, Chum, Sockeye, and Pink salmon all migrate through our
region providing both fly fishing and conventional gear opportunities
for all to enjoy. The mighty Fraser River is the main artery
of millions of migrating salmon that pass through on their
way to the spawning grounds. This river is home of the long
lived sturgeon, the largest fresh water fish in North and
South Americas. These monster fish grow to over one thousand
pounds and live nearly 200 years. They are considered to be
one of the most spectacular fresh water sports fish to catch
and release, having the reputation for their size, strength
and impressive jumps. The Fraser River provides us with the
last healthy wild stocks of this species in the world. A catch
and release fishery has been well monitored and regulated
with the help of the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society,
supported by the guiding industry, where monitoring and assessment
is strictly controlled to provide very accurate scientific
data that is being recognized as the best in the world.
